Senior Cloud Systems Engineer
Candidate will be part of Platform Engineering team will build tools that support a wide range of business users running very large compute workloads on a wide range of systems. The applications will run in both public and private clouds and at considerable scales.
- Strong experience with automation tools
- Developer background, with experience in either C++, python, R, JS, or Java
- Experience building and deploying monitoring systems, CI/CD systems
- Experience with docker a plus
o Creation of an overarching strategy for establishing a secure and well-managed enterprise environment in AWS
o Merging of our enterprise CentOS and Windows build requirements with Amazon native AMIs and integration with Amazon native tooling
o Configuration and management of VPC at AWS, establishment of our core services in the VPC, enabling AWS to serve as a part of network
o Drive Identity and Access Management (IAM), configuration management, and monitoring strategy for AWS
o Establish and manage a patch management strategy for the cloud
o Lead design process for network connectivity to AWS including necessary bandwidth and exploration of various interconnection options
o Integration of AWS management tooling with including automation of spin-up and spin-down and billing approvals
o Design and implementation of data protection options, including HA and BCP protection at AWS
o 3+ years of experience designing and supporting AWS environments
o Candidates must have a minimum of Bachelor’s degree (in Computer Science, Math or Engineering).
o Demonstrable experience deploying enterprise workloads to AWS
o Optional but highly desired: knowledge of at least one other cloud hosting solution in addition to AWS (e.g. Google, Azure, Helion Cloud, SoftLayer).
o Proficiency with Python, Perl, Unix shell, or other scripting languages
o Hands-on experience with one or more configuration management systems such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
o Hands-on experience utilizing Amazon Web Services API Extensive experience managing enterprise on premise compute implementations
o Thorough knowledge of configuration management tooling for Linux based environments
o Experience designing and supporting enterprise core services as well as cloud deployments of these services
o Extensive knowledge of Unix operating systems, especially RHEL/CentOS
o Working and integration with technology and business teams
o Business Continuity or Disaster Recovery planning experience, a plus.
o Quick learner, Detail oriented; Demonstrable thoroughness and strong ownership of work.
o Excellent team player with a strong willingness to participate and help others.
o Able to prioritize in a fast moving, high pressure, constantly changing environment; High sense of urgency.
