Production Engineering is the primary team responsible for the production systems, including trading and PnL software, environment management, and software deployment. We work closely with a variety of other Technology teams at our firm, including Level 1 Trade App Support, Developers, QA Testers, and Infrastructure Technology, as well as with Portfolio Managers and Traders.

Our production systems are highly multi-process, in some cases with hundreds of instances needed to support the different flows, high volumes, and low latencies our traders and portfolio managers require. A significant portion of our software is currently deployed manually, offering huge efficiency opportunities regarding software packaging and deployment.

The key strategy for Production Engineering revolves around automation logic and tools, to allow management of a continually larger enterprise hardware footprint. We will use a combination of in-house and industry-standard tools for Configuration and Application deployment solutions, and will build out frameworks which can quickly provide a holistic view of the overall platform.

Principal Responsibilities

·         Escalation team for all US based trading groups. Attempt to solve as many issues as possible, escalate issues in a timely manner to application and / or infrastructure subject matter experts (internally or at vendors) when appropriate. Manage communications to the trading staff and internal stakeholders regarding issue/resolution.

·         Trading Infrastructure/Platform Status Communications – responsible for disseminating messages to the appropriate trading staff regarding trading infrastructure/platform issues, exchange updates, etc.

·         Supporting and monitoring of the firm’s internal systems

·         Incident & Change management

·         Collaborate with other technical support engineers who may need assistance working on an issue; utilize his/her area of expertise to help others in order to most quickly facilitate solutions for the customer.

·         Collaboration with Dev and QA teams to define efficient, scalable software packaging best practices.

·         Design and implementation of an automated workflow for software deployment and activation.

·         Document and create new knowledge base to provide the most effective solutions to trading issues

·         Assist with automating processes to achieve efficiency and streamlined trade support

·         Liaise with development and infrastructure teams, prioritize tool enhancements, and coordinate and participate in software/new version releases

·         Coordinate with vendors, internal application owners, infrastructure owners, and tech support to ensure trading platforms are correctly installed, configured, and tested

·         Uplift environment management tools to reduce risk and streamline efficiency of Level 1 Support team.

·         Reduction of problems caused by changes, and increase in system uptime.

·         Standardization of runtime tools, including process start/stop, logfile retention, and data archiving.

·         Collaboration with other technical support engineers, utilize expertise to help others in order to most quickly facilitate solutions for the customer.

·         Liaise with Dev and Infrastructure teams, prioritize tool enhancements, and coordinate and participate in software/new version releases

Qualifications/Skills Required

·         Experience with Linux, Python, DevOPs and SQL technologies.

·         Familiarity with, and proponent of, the SDLC process.

·         Able to work in a fast-paced global team, both as individual contributor and project lead.

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·         Familiarity with, and proponent of, the SDLC process.

·         Strong analytics skills, with ability to proactively identify issues before they become major problems.

·         Detail oriented, demonstrating thoroughness and strong ownership of work

·         Quick learner with a demonstrated strong aptitude for learning new technologies and understanding how to utilize them

·         Able to prioritize in a fast moving, high pressure, constantly changing environment; Good sense of urgency – problem management and escalation

·         Experience in financial technology a plus.
