Cloud Architect – Elite Hedge Fund (NYC | Hybrid)

Hedge Fund #E00

We are seeking a Cloud Architect to join our growing technology team, working side-by-side with the Platform Engineering group. You’ll partner with Platform and Infrastructure engineers—along with the wider tech community—to design and deliver secure, reliable, and scalable cloud solutions that extend the firm’s capabilities. By championing cloud-native practices, you’ll ensure our engineers can depend on robust, compliant services that accelerate the company’s cloud adoption.

The ideal candidate is an eager learner and strong communicator who thrives in a collaborative workplace, is experienced with the intricacies of a multi-cloud environment and understands the nuances of each. If you enjoy problem-solving at scale and are passionate about technology, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities

· Architect & Deliver: Design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure cloud architectures — primarily on AWS, with supporting designs on Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) as needed. Apply the AWS Well-Architected Framework and equivalent principles from Azure and GCP to ensure performance, cost efficiency, and operational excellence.

· Define Standards & Governance: Collaborate with Technology leadership to establish evidence-based standards for service adoption and environment expansion across all supported clouds. Create configuration baselines and enforce governance through automation and policy-as-code.

· Implement Best Practices Ensure all environments operate within vendor-recommended guidelines. Leverage AWS Control Tower, Azure Policy, and GCP Organization Policy Service to enforce compliance, consistency, and cross-cloud visibility.

· Security & Compliance by Design: Partner with InfoSec to embed a “secure by default” approach. Expand Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and Policy-as-Code (PaC) practices to validate configurations, ensure compliance, and automate remediation across all platforms.

· Performance, Cost & Reliability Optimization: Develop quantitative KPIs and proactive monitoring for cost, performance, and reliability using data-driven insights to continuously refine architecture and operations.

· Documentation & Communication: Produce clear, concise documentation and architecture decision records (ADRs) that capture design rationale and supporting evidence. Communicate technical decisions, risks, and trade-offs effectively to stakeholders at all levels.

Qualifications

· Professional Experience: 5+ years of professional Cloud engineering experience (AWS preferred), including exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD.

· Multi-Cloud Expertise: Hands-on experience with major services across AWS, Azure and GCP. Familiarity with multi-cloud identity, networking, and policy management.

· Infrastructure as Code: Working knowledge of tools such as Terraform or Pulumi. Strong understanding of version-controlled IaC pipelines integrated with CI/CD workflows. Willingness to learn and collaborate on infrastructure changes is essential.

· SDLC & DevOps: Comfortable working with Git, GitHub, and CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions.

· Observability & Automation: Fluency with observability and automation platforms across clouds, such as, DataDog, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and Cloud Operations Suite for evidence-based performance tuning and anomaly detection.

· Collaboration & Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including Product, Infrastructure, Platform, and InfoSec.

· Analytical, Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to back architectural choices with data; including benchmarks, telemetry, and cost models to ensure solutions are both justified and measurable.

· Problem-Solving & Ownership: Track record of tackling problems proactively, owning your work from design to production, and seeing projects through to completion.

Key Technologies You’ll Work With

· Languages & Frameworks: Python

· Containers & Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm

· Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS, Azure, and GCP orchestrated via Terraform or Pulumi

· CI/CD & Version Control: Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions

· Observability & Monitoring: OpenTelemetry, DataDog
