Position Overview: The Lead Application Support Engineer will be responsible for building and implementing processes and procedures for the entire U.S. application support team while managing the full trade lifecycle across live trading systems. This critical role includes system monitoring, triaging production outages, managing trade settlement issues, and maintaining data cleanliness. As a leader, you will take ownership of application support for all U.S. trading systems, ensuring uptime and seamless integration while establishing best practices and documentation for the support team. You will also work closely with portfolio managers, developers, and operations teams, and will be a key player in shaping the future of the support function, focusing on streamlining workflows, automating tasks, and improving the overall support process. The role requires deep technical expertise, the ability to identify inefficiencies in current processes, and the leadership skills to implement effective solutions.
Responsibilities:
· Build and optimize support processes: Develop and standardize procedures for U.S.-based application support, focusing on improving response times, efficiency, and consistency in handling production issues and incidents.
· Oversee trade lifecycle support: Manage live trading system monitoring, ensuring timely escalation and resolution of issues and follow-ups for postmortems.
· Ensure process documentation: Create and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for all processes, workflows, and troubleshooting guidelines, ensuring knowledge sharing across the team.
· Handle post-trade processing: Resolve trade settlement issues efficiently, reducing downtime and ensuring accurate post-trade activities.
· Collaborate across teams: Work with internal development teams and external counterparties to ensure smooth system integrations and alignment with business needs.
· Improve automation and efficiency: Identify areas to automate daily tasks, such as incident management and system monitoring, while working to implement tools that improve scalability and reliability.
· Ownership of production environment: Take full responsibility for ensuring the stability of U.S. application systems, identifying potential areas for improvement, and proactively addressing performance bottlenecks.
· Monitor SLAs and production alerts: Develop and refine procedures for monitoring critical alerts and meeting SLA requirements for incident remediation.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
· 10+ years of experience in application support within a financial trading environment, with a focus on low-latency systems and market data.
· Strong hands-on experience with low-latency trading platforms, order management systems (internal or third-party), and the FIX trading protocol.
· Proficiency in Python, Linux, SQL, Excel, and AWS; ability to troubleshoot scripts and debug code.
· Ability to create and manage automation scripts using Bash and Python to optimize daily operations.
· Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Git, Bitbucket, Jira, and Docker is a plus.
· Experience in process optimization and automation; ability to implement system improvements and streamline workflows to increase efficiency.
· Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience in developing team processes, standards, and best practices.
· Excellent communication and organizational skills, with an ability to work cross-functionally with multiple teams to drive improvements and resolve issues.
· Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities under pressure, and deliver results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
