Quantitative Trading Firm #015

Chicago, IL | Full-Time | Elite Hedge Fund / Proprietary Trading

This isn’t a cookie-cutter Linux admin role — it’s a chance to work at the Sharp End of Trading Infrastructure where milliseconds matter. You’ll be deep in the OS, Automation, and hardware stack, making Global Trading Systems faster, more reliable, and easier to run. If you love Linux, Crave Complex problems, and want your work to Power Real-World Markets, this is where you’ll thrive.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the lifecycle of Linux systems: Install, Configure, Patch, and Upgrade (Debian and Derivatives).
  • Automate everything you touch — Python, Bash, or whatever Scripting gets the job done.
  • Troubleshoot live production issues under pressure, across hardware, network, and OS.
  • Partner with data center teams and vendors to roll out new hardware and keep systems tuned.
  • Performance test, tune, and push infrastructure for speed and reliability.
  • Deploy and configure internal and external applications that support mission-critical trading.
  • Be part of the on-call rotation — when things break, you’re the one who fixes them.
  • Drive technical projects to make Global Trading Infrastructure faster and more adaptable.

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of Linux Engineering experience — Installation, Configuration, Troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/UNIX command line and system-level tools.
  • Python for Automation and Integration; Bash or equivalent for Scripting.
  • Hands-on experience supporting production environments (trading or finance is a plus).
  • Familiarity with config management (SaltStack preferred; Ansible, Chef, Puppet also valuable).
  • Cloud knowledge (AWS/GCP) a bonus, but not required.
