Quant Platform Database Engineer to join our team in NYC or Miami. This role is ideal for a highly technical database expert who can architect, optimize, and support high-performance, multi-asset analytics platforms in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Architecture & Optimization: Design, implement, and optimize databases across on-premise and cloud (AWS/GCP) environments for high-throughput applications.
- Enterprise Database Strategy: Drive decisions on database technologies, ensuring best practices in security, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR).
- Performance Tuning & Monitoring: Utilize tools like Solarwinds, Redgate, Datadog, Splunk, Grafana to capture metrics, optimize queries, and enhance system observability.
- Automation & Scripting: Develop automation scripts for database maintenance, system monitoring, and data integrity checks using Python, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with quants, portfolio managers, risk teams, and engineers to support critical trading and risk applications.
- Industry Innovation: Stay ahead of emerging trends, evaluating and implementing new database technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Kinetica, Flink, Spark).
Required Skills & Experience:
- 8+ years of hands-on DBA experience in both operational and development roles.
- Expertise in SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, with experience in data warehousing technologies.
- Strong knowledge of cloud-native databases (AWS RDS, Aurora, GCP BigQuery) and distributed processing platforms.
- Experience designing high-performance, low-latency data access patterns for large-scale financial applications.
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments and experience with virtualization/SAN technologies.
- Strong programming skills for automation and system integration (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
- Ability to work independently in a high-pressure, dynamic environment with a strong sense of ownership.
