Enterprise Developer Platform Leadership Opportunity
We are supporting a confidential search for a Senior DevOps Architect to Lead the Design and Evolution of a Modern Enterprise Developer platform powering global engineering teams.
This is a Hands-on Architectural role focused on Building Secure, Scalable, and Automated Developer Ecosystems — spanning Source Control, CI/CD, artifact management, and developer experience standards across cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments.
The position sits at the intersection of Platform Engineering, Security Architecture, and Developer Productivity, with ownership over reference architectures, governance models, and automation strategies that enable teams to move fast while maintaining strong control and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
Developer Platform Architecture
- Define and implement reference architectures and “golden paths” for software delivery
- Drive adoption of self-service automation and platform standardization
- Establish guardrails enforcing least privilege and secure defaults
GitHub Enterprise Governance & Automation
- Organization and repository governance models
- RBAC, SSO/SCIM integrations
- GitHub Actions runner strategy (hosted and self-hosted)
- Infrastructure-as-Code driven administration and policy enforcement
Artifact & Software Supply Chain Strategy
- Design and management of artifact repository topology
- Promotion workflows and immutability controls
- SBOM generation, vulnerability scanning, and artifact signing
- Replication and availability planning across regions
CI/CD Platform Engineering
- Scalable pipeline frameworks and reusable templates
- Hardened build images and secure secret handling
- Quality gate enforcement and progressive deployment strategies
Developer Experience Enablement
- Workstation and IDE standards
- Plugin governance and environment consistency
- Containerized development workflows
- Self-service templates and onboarding acceleration
Security & Compliance Integration
- Zero Trust principles across developer tooling
- Workload identity and short-lived credential models
- Alignment with modern supply chain security frameworks
- Audit-ready automation and traceability
Reliability, Observability & Scale
- SLI/SLO definition and monitoring for platform services
- Capacity planning and performance optimization
- Cost efficiency for CI and artifact infrastructure
Modernization Leadership
- Migration from legacy SCM/build systems
- Platform consolidation and standardization initiatives
- Cross-functional technical leadership across engineering and security teams
Ideal Background
- 10–15+ years in DevOps, platform engineering, or infrastructure architecture
- Deep hands-on experience with GitHub Enterprise at scale
- Strong architecture background with artifact repository platforms
- Expertise designing secure CI/CD ecosystems
- Experience leading platform initiatives in complex or regulated environments
- Ability to influence adoption across engineering organizations
