Position Overview
Looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join the infrastructure team. This position will report to the Head of Infrastructure and will be primarily tasked with managing our global network, but responsibilities may expand into other areas of infrastructure as needed. This person would validate our current network setup and position us for future growth. Looking for someone with at least 5 years real world experience, preferably in a finance environment or similar fast-paced workplace.
Qualifications
Required
– Proficient in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-level network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and WLAN environments.
– Extensive experience with network protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, and VPNs.
– Skilled in network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and access control lists (ACLs).
– Hands-on experience with network hardware from leading vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto Networks.
– Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and perform root cause analysis in a timely manner.
– Strong understanding of network performance monitoring and optimization techniques, including QoS, traffic shaping, and load balancing.
– Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools such as Wireshark, Nagios, PRTG, or SolarWinds.
– Excellent documentation skills for network designs, configurations, and procedures.
– Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
– Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Nice to Haves
– Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) technologies and controllers, such as Cisco ACI or VMware NSX.
– Knowledge of cloud networking principles and experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
– Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIP, or equivalent.
– Understanding of emerging networking trends such as SD-WAN.
– Experience with network virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere.
– Demonstrated ability to lead network projects from conception to completion, including vendor selection, budgeting, and implementation.
– Advanced degree or additional certifications in networking or related fields.
– Proficient in network automation and scripting using tools such as Ansible, Python, or similar technologies.
