Senior Network Engineer

Job Description:

We are a hedge fund seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our small but dynamic team based in London. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in network infrastructure, with a focus on Fortigate firewalls, routing and switching, and advanced knowledge of BGP and OSPF protocols. Additionally, proficiency in automation and DevOps tools such as Git, Ansible, and Python is required.

– This role is the Top of our Network Env. In London. This is a very senior role, a great candidate has build a firms network environment recently .With a focus on Network Automation, Extremely strong knowledge of BGP and OSPF protocols, and strong automation skills. ( Not a developer – but most be able to write scripts quickly and effectively.) This role will eventually be the network manager of the London Team. Day one, you will be an army of one with a Junior reporting to you.

Responsibilities:

1. Architect, engineer, and support network environments, from design conception to implementation and maintenance.

2. Collaborate with team members to design scalable and resilient network solutions.

3. Perform hands-on tasks including cabling, racking, and troubleshooting.

4. Proactively identify and address network-related issues and potential areas for improvement.

5. Provide mentorship and support to junior team members.

Requirements:

1. Extensive experience working with Fortigate firewalls.

2. Strong background in routing and switching technologies.

3. Senior-level knowledge of BGP and OSPF protocols.

4. Proficiency in automation and DevOps practices, including Git, Ansible, and Python scripting.

5. Experience in designing network infrastructures is a plus.

6. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

7. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
