Key Responsibilities:
· Windows Infrastructure Design & Engineering: Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of a robust, scalable, and secure Windows platform infrastructure across the London office.
· Systems Engineering & Automation: Develop and implement automation scripts using PowerShell, Ansible, or other configuration management tools to streamline server provisioning, patch management, and configuration.
· Windows Server Management: Administer Windows Server environments (Windows Server 2016/2019/2022) including installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting.
· Active Directory & Group Policy: Architect, configure, and manage Active Directory (AD) and Group Policy (GPO) for enhanced security, scalability, and operational efficiency.
· Virtualization & Cloud Integration: Engineer and maintain virtualized environments using Hyper-V and VMWare, as well as integrate cloud services (AWS, Azure) with on-premise infrastructure to drive hybrid cloud capabilities.
· Networking & Security: Implement and maintain networking components (DNS, DHCP, IPAM, VPN) and ensure that Windows environments adhere to security best practices, including multi-factor authentication (MFA), encryption, and advanced threat protection (ATP).
· Monitoring & Performance Tuning: Utilize monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, etc.) to proactively monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and optimize the environment for performance and reliability.
· Disaster Recovery & Backup Management: Design and test disaster recovery plans and implement effective backup strategies using technologies such as Veeam, Acronis, or similar solutions.
· Collaboration & Mentorship: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (network engineers, security teams, application developers) to deliver end-to-end infrastructure solutions. Mentor junior engineers and help build out the local IT team as the company expands.
· Documentation & Best Practices: Maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure scalability, security, and operational consistency.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
· 7+ years of experience in Windows Server administration and engineering in an enterprise environment.
· Expert knowledge of Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, Active Directory, and Group Policy management.
· Hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and system management.
· Deep understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware), with practical experience in building and managing virtualized infrastructures.
· Strong background in networking (DNS, DHCP, VPN) and security best practices in Windows environments.
· Experience with cloud integration (AWS, Azure) and hybrid cloud setups.
· Proven ability to design and implement highly available and fault-tolerant systems.
· Strong experience in disaster recovery, backup solutions, and high-performance storage (SAN, NAS).
· Ability to manage and troubleshoot performance issues across a wide range of hardware, software, and networking components.
· Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios) and the ability to proactively optimize system performance.
· Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on scalability, security, and automation.
· Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate and present solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
· Experience with Linux/Unix systems in a Windows-centric environment.
· Cloud-native applications and containerization experience (Docker, Kubernetes).
· Exposure to DevOps tools (Jenkins, Git, Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure as code.
