Day-to-day responsibilities (estimated time allocation):
· 80% – Hands-on SRE automation
· 10% – Coordinating with internal technology teams and third-party providers
· 10% – Process improvement, knowledge management, mentorship, and administrative activities
This position will report directly to the VP, Head of Application Development.
Responsibilities
· Drive the operational stability of custom applications and SaaS solutions by developing automations in accordance with SRE principles.
· Identify, develop, and standardize the use of tooling to optimize and pro-actively detect anomalies before they impact service.
· Identify problems, develop procedures, document action plans, and participate in mitigation activities.
· Automate repetitive and manual tasks in day-to-day work to improve maturity and efficiency of operations to reduce interruption to app-dev/infrastructure teams.
· Perform day-to-day application administrative activities.
· Perform day-to-day maintenance activities as they relate to cloud operations, problem management and change management.
· Enable tracking of operational metrics to benchmark and monitor performance against KPI’s and SLA’s.
· Support delivery and service teams to ensure a seamless end-user service experience.
· Work with and support the automation of ticketing processes and develop dashboards to improve incident visibility.
· Work with IT management, peer technologists and business stakeholders to define SLA’s that are appropriate for each application.
· Manage application environments and coordinate development team release activities per the firms’ SDLC process.
· Support internal development teams by enabling/contributing-to CI/CD efforts.
· Represent the application development team in change management meetings to ensure relevant activities and needs are effectively communicated to the broader IT team.
· Actively participate in Agile ceremonies to drive a positive and effective delivery-oriented team culture.
· Work to maximize system up-time by validating application integrity pre/post-maintenance activities.
· Lead application testing and validation efforts required to support BCP/DR testing.
· Continuously improve personal business and technical knowledge by being proactive in seeking and leveraging training opportunities.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree required
· 6+ years of experience working in technology, with 4+ years in the Finance Services industry (Private Equity strongly preferred).
· 4+ years of experience in engineering roles responsible for automation, reliability engineering or dev/sec/ops.
· 4+ years of experience performing hands-on application administration (e.g. proprietary applications, SaaS applications, cloud application infrastructure etc.).
· Working knowledge of scripting languages (PowerShell strongly preferred).
· Working knowledge of Active directory and common tools for Identity and Access Management (IAM).
· Familiarity with public clouds (Azure preferred).
· Knowledge of and ability to work with infrastructure as code solutions (Terraform strongly preferred).
· Basic knowledge of a programming language preferred (e.g. Python and JavaScript strongly preferred)
· Working knowledge of SQL
· Working knowledge of common development processes (Agile, SDLC and DevOps).
· Familiarity with development tools and CI/CD platforms (Azure DevOps, git strongly preferred)
· Experience automating service delivery and ticket management processes (Jira and ServiceNow knowledge preferred)
· Familiarity with the following vendors/platforms preferred: Salesforce, Workday (finance, integration, HCM), Investran, Enfusion, treasury management solutions.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and retain professionalism and accuracy.
· Strong attention to detail with the ability to be proactive, solve problems, think ahead, and multi-task effectively.
· A strong work ethic and ‘can do’ attitude: motivated, flexible nature, team-player spirit and composed under pressure.
· Ability to work effectively with software vendors and service providers to drive results.
· Strong comfort and experience liaising with internal and external contacts.
