Job Description:

Hedge Fund Capital Management LP, a premier global hedge fund, is looking to hire a talented Windows Engineer to design, build, and maintain our Windows Server infrastructure in the London office. This role will be focused on engineering and architecting high-performance, scalable, and secure Windows-based systems that will support our business-critical operations. You will play a pivotal role in performance tuning, optimizing, and ensuring the robustness of our server environment, contributing to both short-term stability and long-term system evolution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Architecture & Design:
    • Architect and design Windows Server infrastructure solutions that meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.
    • Build and implement new Windows Server environments, ensuring optimal configuration, redundancy, and high availability.
    • Lead the design and implementation of server migrations, upgrades, and consolidations, ensuring seamless transitions with minimal disruption.
  • Server Engineering & Management:
    • Engineer, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments (2008 to 2022) to support critical business applications and trading operations.
    • Administer and optimize Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS/DHCP services to ensure high performance and security.
    • Engineer and implement server-side automation for routine administration tasks using PowerShell and other scripting technologies.
  • Performance Tuning & Optimization:
    • Continuously monitor and tune Windows Server systems for maximum performance, ensuring both operational efficiency and minimal latency.
    • Perform system performance assessments and recommend enhancements to improve resource utilization and application performance.
    • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex server performance issues related to hardware, software, and networking.
  • Infrastructure Projects & Collaboration:
    • Lead the implementation of infrastructure projects, from design through to execution, ensuring that all systems are optimized for performance and reliability.
    • Collaborate closely with other teams to ensure smooth integration of Windows Server environments with other technologies, including virtualized infrastructure and network services.
  • Security & Compliance:
    • Design and implement security best practices across the Windows Server infrastructure, including server hardening and patch management.
    • Ensure compliance with security regulations and industry standards in the server environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in Windows Server engineering, design, and architecture with a focus on enterprise infrastructure.
    • Proven expertise in designing and building complex Windows-based server solutions in a mission-critical environment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong expertise in Windows Server architecture (2008 to 2022) and Active Directory (AD) design and management.
    • Extensive experience with server virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V, including building and optimizing virtualized environments.
    • Advanced knowledge of performance tuning, capacity planning, and system optimization for large-scale server infrastructures.
    • Expertise in PowerShell scripting for automation, configuration management, and system health monitoring.
    • Strong understanding of core infrastructure components such as DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and storage solutions.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on performance and scalability.
    • Excellent communication skills to interact with internal teams and senior management, conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team, with a strong focus on engineering solutions to meet business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft certifications such as MCSE or MCSA are highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a financial services environment, specifically within a hedge fund or trading firm.
  • Familiarity with server monitoring tools and performance management platforms.
