OVERVIEW:
A leading firm is seeking a skilled engineer with expertise in Windows software development and systems administration to join its Platform Engineering team. This hands-on, technical role involves working within a collaborative, diverse, and dynamic team responsible for the firm’s core technology infrastructure.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Platform Engineering team is responsible for designing and maintaining the firm’s operating systems, authentication systems, databases, virtualization infrastructure, core network services, and messaging and endpoints across both Windows and Linux platforms. The engineer will focus on designing, implementing, and integrating infrastructure systems, with a primary emphasis on Windows-based environments.
KEY DUTIES:
- Develop and maintain the firm’s core operating systems and infrastructure.
- Design and implement infrastructure solutions across Windows and Linux platforms.
- Integrate and manage systems within both internal and external environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Windows platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Utilize a variety of tracing and diagnostic tools to identify and address system issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Extensive experience in Windows software development and systems automation.
- Proficiency in C# and PowerShell is preferred; experience with Python and Rust is advantageous.
- Deep understanding of the Windows platform and related technologies such as Active Directory and Failover Clustering.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with familiarity in tracing tools like WireShark, ETW, and ProcMon.
- Experience with Windows Server applications and management tools such as Exchange, SQL, SCCM, Hyper-V, and ADFS.
- Knowledge of network protocols, Linux, and information security principles.
- Experience in integrating on-premises systems with cloud environments (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) and working with containers on both Windows and Linux platforms.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with various departments within the firm.
